How much does a seminar cost? There are many factors that determine cost. We take into consideration what type of group is looking to book the event, in addition to date requested, geographic area and if you are willing to "block book." This means, if one of our speakers is already in your state on a certain date, we'd give a discount to book a seminar the day before or after. This saves everyone time and money, since travel costs get expensive very quickly. Since fees vary so widely, please contact us for more information.
How can I find out when Speakers are in my area, so I can block book? Please view our calendar for updated booking information. Booking dates while our speakers are in your geographic area will certainly cut down on fees. You can also create a block book situation by inviting other companies/schools to book a seminar during the same time-frame as you.
What are the best venues to hold the event? Auditoriums or ballrooms are best. We try to avoid gyms and outdoor venues, since the acoustics can suffer as a result.
How far in advance do we need to book a date? We book seminars anywhere between 1 year and 4 weeks in advance of the event date.
Who will conduct the seminar? We have an excellent team of speakers based across the United States. Your speaker has been highly trained in both self-defense and public speaking, and all have been trained under our Founder, Erin Weed.
After booking a seminar, what can I expect? We will send you a simple contract and rider to sign in order to save the date. The rider is basically a checklist of all the things you’ll need for a successful event. The speaker who will be conducting the seminar will get in touch with you 4 weeks prior to the event date to discuss logistics and travel arrangements. You will work with that speaker directly going forward to plan an awesome event!
How do I publicize the event? We provide all customers with downloads of photos, graphics, posters and flyers. Upon returning your signed contract and rider, we will give you a link to download all these files.
What am I required to provide for the Speaker? At Fight Back Productions, we have a strict "no diva" policy from the day you sign the contract until the day of the event. Our staff handles all travel planning and logistics on our end. All we ask is the event organizer meets the speaker an hour before start time to assist with set-up. For the actual presentation we require an LCD projector and screen for the PowerPoint presentation. We will also need a wireless microphone, and male assistant to help with self-defense demonstrations. Beyond that, our speakers are totally self-reliant.
What happens the day of the event? Your speaker will call you the morning of the event date just to touch base, and will arrive at the event venue one hour prior to start time. Upon arrival, she will set-up the technology needs (PowerPoint & projector) and conduct a sound check. It’s always very helpful to have a tech support person to lend a hand if possible. Next she will set up her props on stage for the presentation. As people are filing into the venue, we would greatly appreciate a volunteer from your planning team to pass out programs and raffle tickets. (See below for more on the raffle.) Please suggest a quiet place for the speaker to relax prior to the program starting, whether it’s back stage or in a room nearby the venue. This helps her gather her thoughts and prepare for an excellent presentation. You determine what time the show begins. Many colleges are known for starting 10-15 minutes late – this is not a problem! We operate on your watch, so just let the speaker know when it’s show time. After the seminar is over, the speaker will answer questions from the audience, clean up her props, and be on her way.
Tell me more about the programs and the raffle. A program is given to each attendee upon entering the venue. They are beautiful handouts that capture highlights from the seminar, safety tips, statistics and resources where seminar attendees can learn more about safety and self-defense. The raffle is part of the seminar conclusion. Each attendee will be asked to write their name and e-mail address on provided raffle tickets. At the end of each seminar, the speaker will draw 3 tickets from a basket. Winners will receive FREE gifts, like books & DVDs. We find it’s a nice and fun way to conclude our presentations.
Do I have to take the Speaker to lunch/dinner while she is here? We know how busy you are, and we certainly don’t expect you to entertain our speakers. If this is something you want to do, please discuss it with the speaker in the weeks leading up to the event. In many cases, she will be more than happy to enjoy a meal with you. Just so you’re aware, our speakers do not eat BEFORE programs, so the meal will need to be afterwards.
